Škoda Fabia. Skoda Fabia Mk III (2014-2021) 1.2 110 tsi engine issues. Having mega problems with my 15 plate fabia, yesterday it broke down on the motorway after a loss of power, strong burning smell coming through the air conditioning system and a strange sound coming from the engine. AA diagnosed possible turbo issue. TSI Engines. The TSI engine superseded the turbo FSI with important technological and mechanical updates to address the downfalls of the FSI. It was first introduced in Volkswagen’s and Audi’s in 2008.5 and is still found in vehicles today. The engine base for these engines is mainly EA888 and it puts down anywhere from 170-310hp and 207 The 1.2 Tsi is a fine engine and a VERY popular choice throughout the Vag range. I researched it well before buying mine and in comparison to the vast number out there, the engine is sound and reliable. All engines have their "Friday models" Reliability These are the official statistics, while our visitors describe reliability of Volkswagen with an average rating of 4.2 out of 5. Above it all, drivers of cars with the same engine as Polo 1.2 TSI rank it on average as 4.5 out of 5, exactly the same as the other one. There's no way the 1.2 engine would accelerate to 100km/h in 8,9s. Just no way. I have the old 1.6 NA engine (102hp) and it would do 11.5s in the best conditions and mine has really short gear ratios for 1-2-3. Even with a slightly more potent engine, more torque than mine and slightly lighter car, there's no way it would get to 8,9s. My wife is thinking of buying a Skoda Yeti 1.2 TSI with a manual gearbox and wants a car for up to 10 years although the mileage will not be high at around 7000 miles annually. Probably looking at a 2015 registered model. I have read that there have been quite a few low mileage problems, especially around the cam chain. I wanted to know if the engine was modified and if 2015 models are more My 1.0 TSI with 900 miles is now loosening up nicely and I would say that it has the edge on the 1.2 4 cylinder engines for outright performance. However unless sophistication improves with more mileage I would say that the 1.2 engines were slightly more refined and better mannered. Edited 1 April, 2019 by Robbydazzler My concerns were immediately laid to rest, that 1.4 TSi was a quite remarkable engine with its diesel like low & mid range torque. However when it came to the Yeti with its less aerodynamic profile my concerns were once again raised by going to an even smaller capacity engine of the1.2 TSi. shygT.
